Fry's First Team pitch
In its time Fry's (later Cadbury's and others) was a generous provider to its staff and sport was a cornerstone. Generations of people worked and played for the many clubs. Today the football team plays on this pitch, which stands on what was a huge factory block before demolition.

The back of the old chocolate factory
It used to be Fry's chocolate, then became Cadbury's, then became disposed of. Now the large old brick factory buildings are being converted into residential and small retail opportunities. Viewed from Durley Hill, the 'back' side of the site.

A different landscape and a different flavour
The old chocolate factories at Somervale are now a suite of exclusive apartments, along with a development of more conventional housing that is being built to accompany them. The once familiar odour of chocolate will not be so common.

2010 : Requiem to a dead chocolate factory?
Not yet, apparently. The latest news from Kraft Foods is that they intend to keep the factory open for "at least two years." Good news not only for Keynshamites but for people all round who find employment here. Hope it is not just a stay of execution.
