Mirage at the marina
At the far end of the old Portishead dock is a modern apartment block called 'Mirage'. The design seems to evoke the profile of an ocean liner, and has a restaurant at the ground level.

Swan for company
The redevelopment of Portishead Marina has included an enclosed basin at the end. Despite the close presence of hundreds of apartments the shallows are frequented by many geese and swans. This one perhaps is waiting for the barman to serve him.

A cascading restaurant
The marina-side restaurant and apartment block have a flowing style, not perhaps unlike an ocean liner.

'Flying' sculpture, Waterside Square, Portishead
A joint project with artist Lucy Glendinning, and m-tec, who were responsible for the complete fabrication and attachment of the sculpture along with the delivery and installation in Portishead. The 9m high sculpture was commissioned by Persimmons Special Projects, North Somerset District Council and Continuum Arts and installed in June 2007. Lucy said "I wanted this sculpture to reflect the feel of the site, to give the sense of scale that being by the sea gives us, the feel of the wind and its effect. The impression of freedom and power the sea lends through its elemental force, as well as being a point of travel and adventure. The flying figure gives the sculpture a gravity-defying energy, an uplifting and celebratory sense which communicates a conscious or subconscious confirmation of human achievement.”

Not flying
The artwork is a towering, curved column with a horizontal figure. It is titled 'Flying' by Lucy Glendinning and is one of many public artworks around the old docks. However, one particular inhabitant has decided that not flying is better.
