Redcliff Quarter undergoing yet more change
The old warehouses were knocked down and new warehouses put up in their place; they were then knocked down and garages and workshops sprang up instead. Today, they too have gone and a new chapter in the industrial area just south of Bristol Bridge is about to begin. Such sights like this must have been evident for centuries.

Recording the old site of Redcliffe
Archaeologists from Oxford carry out pains-taking surveying of the remains of Redcliffe's past. This area has centuries of occupation and redevelopment, leaving a mixture of foundations and relics. And just to emphasise the point, their work is needed quickly before the builders move in once more to create the next generation of history.

Former Wool Hall, St Thomas Street, Bristol
Austere but impressive, its rubble exterior somewhat redolent of a prison. By R.S. Pope, 1828. Grade II listed.

Long Row is very short
Once a narrow alley in old times, Long Row is now wide enough to allow vehicles. It also used to carry on after crossing Victoria Street, but that part was lost in the general redevelopment in the 1960s.
