All change
Once again the area near the M Shed museum is being redeveloped. As part of the old port dockside there were many warehouses, factories and heavy industries over the years. Today, its role as a car park is to change. It is also next to the old Bristol Gaol, which was badly destroyed by fire in the notorious 1831 Riots. See Image] for a view of that remaining structure from the same viewpoint.

Adding to the new look of the dockside
More new housing has sprung up in the Wapping Wharf part of the old docks. It complements those older developments that are now doubtless worth a prettier penny than they were. What used to be the dirty and diverse business of the docks has been almost completely transformed.

Gaolferry Bridge
This bridge has one side for cyclists and one for pedestrians. It crosses the "New Cut" from Southville towards the city centre. In the distance is the tower of St Paul's Church, Bedminster.

Like hot cakes!
Only four apartments left for sale in the partially completed Whapping Wharf development. One suspects that this enterprise does not meet the needs of the homeless and poorer residents of Bristol although the planned retail element is set to allow for only local, independent shops: not the likes of M&S.

Nearing completion
The redevelopment of the Wapping Wharf area is close to allowing residents in now. The brochure describes the designs as 'The buildings will reflect Bristol’s harbourside history with their gritty dockside character and materials such as timber shiplap, brickwork, render and old cobblestones salvaged from the building site. The designs will feature pitched roofs mirroring the shape of the wharf buildings that traditionally lined the docks.'
