Statue. 1888. By JS Boehm. Of Queen Victoria. Limestone ashlar steps, copper base and marble statue. Round steps to a square, copper base with fish, putti and inscribed panels, and a figure of the Queen Empress holding (broken) sceptre and orb. Moved several times.

Empress on College Green
Her Majesty looks down over the mediaeval graveyards and high grounds over the old docks. She now stands in a slightly different place, having been moved a few feet in more recent times. The reason being that, in the previous centuries, there was a tram line right here.
The statue marks Victoria's fiftieth year of reign. It was unveiled on 25th July, 1888 by Prince Albert Victor.
