'Gromit-O-Matic'
One of the eighty such canine contrivances that spread over Bristol during the summer of 2013. This one was illuminated by Donough O'Malley and sponsored by Crest Nicholson, the builders of the new apartments that are also springing up hereabouts. See Image] for a look at how he keeps an eye on the world.

Standing guard
A Gromit at the end of a long block of new flats and apartments that have replaced all the old warehouses, factories, timber yards, coal and soap plants that were here not so long ago. See Image] for a better look at the Aardman pooch. The funnel and masts in the background are the S.S. Great Britain.

The spread of the art
Bristol has become the capital of aerosol art with its 'See No Evil' movement, making a fierce splash of colour on the acres of grey concrete buildings. However, it is not confined to just the grim old seventies architecture - these are new apartments.

Millennium Promenade, Bristol
I presume from its name that this development dates from c.2000. At one time this area of the city, known as Canon's Marsh, was home to a gasworks, timber yard and railway goods yard. How times change!
