Needed on this particular race
The Great Bristol Half Marathon took place this year in bright and unusually warm sunshine. By the time the runners had made it to this point (perhaps one more mile to the finish) a quick shower was a welcome addition to the usual bottles of water. Those stood in the bar right next door were enjoying a rather different sort of quenching.

Late Georgian pub on the corner of King Street and Queen Charlotte Street. Built as a house c1780. The Old Duke has become famous for its live traditional, New Orleans inspired jazz music. The pub has recently added Blues and more modern jazz bands to its programme. There is live music every night, and also Sunday lunchtimes.
