Valley Ponds (2)
A series of ponds that lies at the entrance to the Valley estate. The field was called Pit Brook in Newhaven's 1841 tithe map and was used as brick fields during the rest of the 19th century. Lewes Road
The ancient road to Lewes that links up a number of villages that were founded on the springline of the South Downs. The terrace on the right descends down to the Jolly Boatman public house that lies on the corner of this road and Elphick Road and like much of the terraced housing in the vicinity was built in the late 1890s or early 1900s.
