Footpath to Newhaven
Beyond the Ouse Estuary Nature Reserve the footpath returns to its original unmade state following the top of an embankment possibly built along one of the many former courses of the Ouse or at least one of its creeks. The footpath starts on Seaford Road then heads west to the edge of Beach Road Industrial Estate before turning north towards its eventual destination Estate Road.

Coming Soon ... ASDA (1)
In May Lewes District Council granted planning permission for ASDA to build a new supermarket along with 400 new homes and a new access road for the ferry terminal. This area has long been set aside for development of some sort and various schemes have been put forward over time, however, there are questions about this scheme as it does nothing to address the real problems of Newhaven, namely a decrepit port and a near dead High Street which encourages those who use the ferries to drive straight through it. The new supermarket will be less than a mile away from Sainsbury's and Lidl and in all likelihood will encourage drivers to the supermarket but not to the nearby town. The ferry, Seven Sisters, is visible. See also Image

Beyond is housing on Rookery Hill, Bishopstone. The railway leads towards and terminates at Seaford (pronounced Sea-ford, not Seaf'd, by the locals).
