Shelley Hotel, High Street
Originally the Vine Inn built in 1526 it was converted into a manor house by the Earl of Dorset in 1588. The fourth Earl of Dorset sold it to Henry Shelley whose family remained in residence until 1854. The family included the poet Percy Byshe Shelley and Frankenstein writer Mary Shelley. It became a hotel in 1932.

Lewes Old Grammar School, High Street
This is the senior school which has roots back to the first grammar school set up in the town in 1512. The current building was erected in 1851.
