Golden Square
This part of Henfield is called "Golden Square" - which has always seemed a little odd to me because (a) it encircles a roundabout, so it's more round than square, and (b) I associate "squares" with towns rather than villages.

Henfield, Sussex - old houses on the south side of Golden Square
It's interesting that the floor level of these old houses is quite a bit lower than the road level. I guess this is how archaeology works.
