The Tannery, Tanyard Lane, Steyning
A block of flats that was converted from a former warehouse in 2007. The building is the sole survivor of a former tannery run by GW Breach & Son that operated here from the early 19th century until its closure in 1941. The former factory which concentrated on making sheepskin products occupied all the area north of the lane to the junction with Breach Close, itself named after the former factory.

The Tannery, Steyning
The Tannery is a landmark four-storey building in Tanyard Lane; and a century ago, the fast flowing stream behind the building was used in the tannery process that took place inside. Interestingly, the original rope lifting wheel has been kept as a historic icon - contrasting with clean new design elements of glass, steel and natural Ash timber used in the communal stairs & hallways http://www.clarkeandcharlesworth.com/property/218/tanyard-lane/?return=/?qS=13
