Built in the 1850s possibly for workers in the nearby tanyard. Elm Grove Lane links the High Street to Tanyard Lane.

Chantry House, Church Street, Steyning
The house dates from the 18th century and was home to the Heald sisters, Nora and Edith from 1920-76, both were journalists the latter coming into contact with WB Yeats who often stayed here from 1936 until his death becoming his last mistress. Edith's relationship with the artist Gluck (Hannah Gluckstein) saw the latter move in during 1944 and stayed until Edith's death in 1961. Nora died in 1976.
