Northfield Cottage, King's Barn Lane, Steyning
The former farmhouse of King's Barn Farm dates back to the 17th century. The current name appears to be a relatively recent change. King's Barn was an ancient manor of Beeding once held by the Saxon kings of Wessex.

Gore Croft
The name of the field according to the King's Barn tithing of Upper Beeding's 1847 tithe map. Gore is an old medieval name for a triangular piece of land often left over when larger open fields were divided into furlongs for individuals to till. This is no exception being located on an embankment above the Adur flood plain though the old field to the west has now been built upon.
