Ropetackle
View of the newly constructed flats on the Adur waterfront. They were proposed for development in 1997 and completed by 2005 replacing a former council depot and car park which had replaced a previous small community many of whose houses were pulled down in the 1980s. The block on the right next to Norfolk Bridge has caused some complaints as it now blocks the view from the High Street. Taken from shingle bank that appears at low tide on the eastern side of the river. See Image for a view at high tide.

The Ropetackle Waterside Development, Shoreham, Sussex
The area is an attractive and high-tech development highly regarded as an effective and imaginative way of developing "brown-field" sites no longer required for industry. On the left, the 1911 railway bridge carrying the West Coastway Line between Brighton and Southampton begins its crossing of the River Adur. Before 1911 a wooden trestle bridge was used. Heavy winter clouds today provided a dramatic contrast to the (briefly) sun-bathed foreground.
