Embassy Court
Built in 1935 by the architect Wells Coates. Previously it had been a villa called Western House which was demolished in 1930, the vacant size used as a miniature golf course until the construction of the flats. Initially the block was regarded with horror due to its location at the eastern end of Brunswick Terrace and was exacerbated by a thirty year battle between a succession of freeholders and a group of leaseholders that saw the building fall into serious neglect and become a considerable eyesore on the seafront. The latter final won their battle in the High Court in 2004 and over the next couple of years restored the building to its former splendour. The block is in Brighton, the fawn coloured Brunswick Terrace to the left is in Hove.
