Windmill Hill Nr Herstmonceux East Sussex
The Windmill located on the A271 between Boreham Street and Herstmonceux is the largest post mill in Sussex and possibly throughout Britain It was built at the beginning of the 1600s to provide flour for the iron foundry workers. The first reference to the mill was on a map of Sussex from 1783. It has been recently restored.

The owner told me it was about 25 years old. This is the largest of several in this square.

Victoria Road
Many of the houses here date from the last decades of the 19th century hence the name of the road. Prior to that the settlement of Windmill Hill centred around the area known as Posey Green next to the current Horseshoe Inn.
