Old Milestone by the B2104, Ersham Road, Hailsham
Metal plate attached to stone post by the B2104 (was A22), in parish of HAILSHAM (WEALDEN District), Ersham Road, in fence of cemetery, on verge bank by hedge, on East side of road. Numbered iron plate, erected by the Horsebridge & Horeham turnpike trust in the 19th century.

Hailsham Cemetery
Opened in 1872 and now containing over 2000 graves. This one of William Jones is particularly tragic. He died in 1939 at the ripe old age of 80, however, he lost his wife in 1900 aged 40 and his only son in September 1916 one of many who were killed in action in France that year.
