Cattle Market, Hailsham
Hailsham has been the market centre for the marshes for many years, its cattle market dating from Medieval times. It moved to this site in 1862 and it is still going strong.

Market Street
Looking northwards to Market Square which is just beyond where the car is turning out of Vicarage Road. The building on the left is the Old Manor House which dates from the early 18th century and is now occupied by a solicitors.

The former Wealden Retreat
The nature of the last business to operate from these premises (2 Market Square) was not obvious, but a Google search reveals it was a holistic beauty/therapy parlour. The building - listed grade 2, list entry number 1353326 - is now to let.

Wandering round Hailsham town centre with a short while to wait for a bus, my eye was caught by this narrow passageway and I was tempted to explore it.

Market Square
The old market square that lies at the junctions of Market Street, High Street and George Street. Until 1868 this was the site of the town's cattle market but now is a busy intersection for those entering the centre of this small market town. Viewed from the Stoney Lane entrance.
