Happy Valley, Woodingdean
Marked as Wick Bottom on Ovingdean's 1839 tithe map but known as Happy Valley by the 1873 OS map. Back then the view would have been of open downland with the current suburb growing from the 1920s, like many on the south coast, initially as shacks and bungalows which were later improved when Brighton Council took over this area in 1928. Just visible left of centre is the mast on Newmarket Hill.
