Troy Town
The name of the field according to the 1840 tithe map. The field was also the site of an early Saxon burial ground discovered in 1897 as well as containing the course of an old droving road which was certainly used by the Romans but probably dates back to the Iron Age. Selmeston has a long history of inhabitation, a Bronze Age burial ground lies to the south of the church which itself is believed to have been built on an old pagan place of worship. The Little Manor is on the left whilst to its right are Manor Cottages.
