Cycle path alongside the bypass
The tarmac cycle path carries National Cycle Network route 2 parallel to the Polegate bypass (which is numbered both A22 and A27).

Cuckoo Trail bridge over A27
The bridge is on the route of the old Eastbourne - Tunbridge Wells railway. When there was a railway here, no bridge was needed, as this Polegate bypass much postdated the closing of the railway.

Footbridge over the bypass
The bridge carries National Cycle Network routes 2 and 21 over the Polegate bypass (which is numbered both A22 and A27). The high sides are probably because it is a bridleway and therefore horses are to be expected.
