Shepham Lane
The north eastern edge of Polegate, urban to the right and rural to the left beyond the trees. As the latter is hemmed in by the Polegate By-Pass you wonder how long that will stay that way. The bungalows on the right were built during the 50s and 60s on field called Deadman's Oak Field.

The name of what was once a junction of rural lanes, Pevensey Road, Ditton's Road and Shepham Lane that are now all part of urban Polegate.

The way beyond the gate, Shepham Lane, was a public road, but it has now been downgraded to a byway no longer used by cars.

Shepham Lane, Polegate
Former country lane now part of the national cycle network. As a result nature has been allowed to encroach on its borders. This view looks south just beyond the bridge over the A27 and just before it swings right to enter Polegate.
