The massive retaining wall supports Marine Parade. The left-hand plaque of the two is in tribute to the 36th (Ulster) Division, who were encamped in the town in July and August 1915. The right-hand plaque celebrates 'Reconciliation and Friendship': 30 years of twinning between Seaford and Bönningstedt, 1984-2014. The small sign below notifies that the space in front is reserved for a concession.

Next to the junction of Marine Parade and Claremont Road. The fingerpost is a reminder that until 1963 Claremont Road to the right was the A259 which joined Marine Parade then headed west to the south of Hawth Hill before running north to join the current line of the road near the junction with Bishopstone Road.
