An older development by a property owner in nearby Firle Road. I think the story I was told was that the hedge across the middle of the open space is intended to screen the far properties from the headlights of cars entering the close.

Blatchington Court School former Chapel
Blatchington Court was a school for partially sighted pupils, it was attgended by the contributor from 1963-72. The building is the last remaining from the school it was transferred to the ownership of St Peter's church East Blatchington when the school closed in 1985.
