Corsica Hall Seaford
The present hall finished in the 1820's replaced the original built in the 1700s. Seaford College occupied the site from 1884 until 1940 when it was requisitioned by the government.
After the war the college looked for larger premises and moved to Lavington Park where they are today.
The hall has now been converted into luxury accommodation.

Corsica Hall and nearby Corsican connections, Seaford, East Sussex
The photo shows a northeast view across the low-lying Martello Fields towards Corsica Hall on the high ground. The area shows a Corsican connection, with the design of Seaford Martello Tower being based on an original Corsican design at Mortella (Myrtle) Point. In addition to this, the Seaford Martello Museum’s flag bears the image of the Seaford Martello Tower. Another Corsican connection involves John Whitfield, who originally built a stately home known as “The Lodge” at Wellingham near Ringmer in East Sussex. He traded illegally in the importation of Corsican wine, but in order to prevent the legal consequences of his actions, he presented King George II with some of his finest wine; this act of enlightened self-interest had the desired result from Whitfield’s point of view. After John Whitfield had died, a new owner, Thomas Harben, relocated “The Lodge” to Seaford between 1784 and 1786 and renamed it “Corsica Hall.” Another Corsican connection within a distance of 220 metres is the council-owned land of Martello Fields, which is used for community events.

Steep bank beside College Road, Seaford
The bank supports a colony of tamarisk, a shrub that tolerates salt spray. The back of the seafront Esplanade is across the open space, left. Above the bank is a large property called The Lodge. Behind the camera, College Road leads to the residential area of detached houses around Corsica Road and Fitzgerald Avenue
