Banksmen stationed on Eastbourne’s seafront, East Sussex
It is unusual to see a car parked on the cycle track of the promenade, but in this instance the car in the photo is connected with the work of a banksman who supervises health and safety aspects relating to the machines working on Eastbourne’s beaches at the present time. In addition to preventing members of the general public from straying into the path of heavy vehicles that are recycling shingle along the seafront, the banksmen are knowledgeable about the operation, and they can inform the public about what is happening and the reasons for it.
