Sovereign Park
The landscape of Sovereign Park consists partly of fossil storm beaches formed several centuries ago by strong wave action. Shingle was driven onshore and periodically, large ridges were formed that can still be seen today. It is an important site for conservation.

Sovereign Park
Sovereign Park aims to preserve some of the shingle beach habitat that was once common along the south coast until the increase in urban development and other pressures caused so much loss. The shingle area is to the left here and the promenade and beach is beyond the bank on the left. Prince William Parade is to the right.

This could have been summer but it was the Sunday at the start of half term in October. Like so many other days in October 2018 it was a beautiful warm day with a deep blue sky from beginning to end.
