Max Miller Walk, Brighton
A view of the only section of the current terraces above Madeira Drive still open. The rest were closed to the public in April 2015 whilst the local council began scratching their heads and working out how to raise the potential £100 million needed to rectify the serious structural faults in the iron arches.

Brighton marathon, approaching the finish
Madeira Drive in Brighton runs level with the beach. It is often used for special events. On the day this photo was taken, it was being used as the finish of the 2011 Brighton Marathon, a running race on the streets of Brighton and Hove. This photo was taken from Marine Parade, which is the route taken by the coast road east out of Brighton. It is parallel with Madeira Drive, but rises to a higher level. To the right of the picture is the intermediate level walkway which is above Madeira Drive but below Marine Parade. Brighton's Palace Pier extends outwards into the sea from the clock tower towards the top of the image. Further in the distance is the ruin of Brighton's West Pier.

Snowdogs by the Sea: #31 - Patch - The Unfinished Quilt
Location: Marine Parade opposite New Steine Sponsor: Brighton & Hove Hotels Association Designer: Judith Berrill Based on the designer's mother's unfinished blanket started in 1955 and never finished. [Update 6 December - auctioned for £5,800] The snowdogs by the sea is a public art trail that will take place from 24 September to 27 November 2016 across Brighton involving 45 decorated snow dog sculptures 1.5m high that are placed around various parts of the city (Except number 45 which will be located on Platform 17 at Victoria Station in London). They are based on the story of 'The Snowman and the Snowdog' the follow up to The Snowman by Raymond Briggs. Briggs at least has some association with the city having taught at the Brighton School of Art, that later became part of Brighton Polytechnic, from 1961-86. He currently resides at Westmeston a small village located along the spring line of the South Downs about seven miles north of the city centre. The trail is co-ordinated by and will raise funds for the Martlets Hospice a local charity with each dog sponsored by a local business, agency or celebrity. At the beginning of December each dog will be auctioned off along with a set of snow puppies, smaller sculptures, that have been decorated by local schools and placed in museums and libraries [Update - Auction raised £337,000 on 6 December 2016].
