Part of the original Kemp Town developed by Thomas Kemp between 1822-30 and designed by Charles Busby and Amon Wilds. Residents have included daughters of Edward VII, the 6th Duke of Devonshire, Lord Frederick Elwyn-Jones, labour chancellor and prosecutor at Nuremberg and his next door neighbour for many years, Dame Anna Neagle.
