Seymour Square, Kemp Town, Brighton
Built in the early 1970s on the site of a former brewery which had opened in the 1830s as Bristol Brewery later becoming the original Kemp Town Brewery in 1933. One of two major Brighton breweries in the mid 20th century until it was purchased by Charringtons in 1954 though the name continued to be used until 1963. That year brewing ceased and the buildings were demolished in 1970. Originally Seymour Street ran from Marine Parade to St George's Road with the brewery straddling the road, however, the street was truncated with the construction of the new development. Viewed from Paston Place.

Snowdogs by the Sea: #34 - Smiley
Location: St George's Church, Kemp Town Sponsor: Wild in Art Designer: Sophy Henn Unfortunately a parked car out of shot to the right meant a choice of Smiley's head or backside, I plumped for the former where it appears I've disturbed him having a tea break. St George's was running a cafe on this day. [Update 6 December - auctioned for £15,000] The snowdogs by the sea is a public art trail that will take place from 24 September to 27 November 2016 across Brighton involving 45 decorated snow dog sculptures 1.5m high that are placed around various parts of the city (Except number 45 which will be located on Platform 17 at Victoria Station in London). They are based on the story of 'The Snowman and the Snowdog' the follow up to The Snowman by Raymond Briggs. Briggs at least has some association with the city having taught at the Brighton School of Art, that later became part of Brighton Polytechnic, from 1961-86. He currently resides at Westmeston a small village located along the spring line of the South Downs about seven miles north of the city centre. The trail is co-ordinated by and will raise funds for the Martlets Hospice a local charity with each dog sponsored by a local business, agency or celebrity. At the beginning of December each dog will be auctioned off along with a set of snow puppies, smaller sculptures, that have been decorated by local schools and placed in museums and libraries [Update - Auction raised £337,000 on 6 December 2016]. St George's Road
The B2118 looking towards the crossroads with Paston Place. The brick building on the right is the rear to Seymour Square built in 1970 on the site of the former Kemp Town Brewery. Beyond it is the Bombay Bar built in 1892 as a mausoleum for Sir Albert Sassoon who was buried there in 1896 along with his son in 1912. His family sold the building in 1933 and removed the bodies for reburial in London. During the war it was used as an air raid shelter before becoming part of the Hanbury Arms pub next door, later on being a small concert and club venue known as the Hanbury Ballroom. Today it is an Indian restaurant.
