Built around the turn of the 19th century on the newly constructed road from the modern A259 down to Birling Gap. These cottages lie between the junction with Lower Street and the church.

East Dean
A view of the village that resides in a dry valley of the same name. The old historic core of the village is obscured by the trees to the left; in the foreground is the areas extended into after the First World War around the new road called Gilbert Drive; whilst the higher ground to the rear contains the Downlands Estate that was started in the late 1920s but not completed until after the Second World War. To the right is Pea Down whilst to its left is Chapman's Bottom.
