Tapsel Gate, Church of St Simon & St Jude, East Dean, East Sussex
The tapsel gate is (as far as I know) unique to this part of East Sussex. The gate revolves around a central pivot and was designed to allow prayers to be said over the coffin before a burial. The coffin would be rested on the gate as the pall bearers stood either side.
