Viewed across the village pond at Friston towards the bus stop on Friston Hill (A259) next to the junction with Crowlink Lane. The road opposite is Windmill Lane and leads to the built up area to the north of the main road which makes Friston and East Dean virtually indistinguishable.

A tapsel gate is unique to this part of East Sussex. It swings on a central pole and originally allowed pall bearers to rest a coffin on the gate as they passed on either side. Photo taken in a snow storm with Friston Pond in the background.
