Cairn by the South Downs Way, Birling Gap, East Sussex
This photo shows a cairn, made of individual chalk rocks, which is situated at the entrance to the Boat House and its junction with the South Downs Way. This part of the South Downs Way doubles as an access road for the houses that border it on both sides.

Rutted section of the South Downs Way, Birling Gap, East Sussex
This photo shows a rutted section of the South Downs Way which also serves as an access road for adjoining houses. It is somewhat ironic that many walkers, along this section of the famous walkway, avoid it by preferring to walk on the grass verges.

Embankment which outcrops on clifftop as a high point of soil
This photo shows an embankment by the side of the old Boat House garden in East Dean, East Sussex. The embankment runs in a southwest direction from close to the path of the South Downs Way, where the photo was taken, to the nearby clifftop where it makes a triangular shaped outcrop.
