Distance
1
The Causeway
Built in the 11th century to carry the east-west route over the marshy Arun estuary, it still carries the main A27 though the reversion to single lane between Crossbush and the west of the town means huge bottlenecks both at rush hour and during bank holidays. The bridge in the distance carries it over the railway line.

Arundel: station steps to Platform 2
Looking down from the pavement of the A27, through the station footbridge which runs immediately alongside, and down the steps leading to Platform 2. It is usual, at stations of simple design on lines that run out of London, for the London-bound platform to be number 1 and the out-of-London direction to be number 2 - and such is the case here.

Class 377 Arriving at Arundel Station, Sussex
The Arun Valley line has seen a substantial increase in passengers, in recent years. There are regular direct services to Southampton, Portsmouth and Bognor Regis, from Arundel.

Arundel railway station
A view from the footbridge at Arundel station, looking south towards the coast. A train has just left the station and is disappearing into the distance, heading for Bognor Regis. Clearly there used to be a third track at this station, to the left of the platform on the left of the image. The railway is electrified using the third rail system. Trains draw power from an electrified rail, which is an alternative to installing overhead power cables.
