Orchard Way, Fontwell
Small residential estate off London Road that is marked as planned on the 1939 OS map but the first houses weren't built until after the war. The road had developed fully by the 1960s and was named after the extensive orchards that once existed before development.

Orchard Crescent, Fontwell
A parade of shops built in 1938 to take advantage of the neighbouring A27. It once included a post office that has long gone and the four shops are now down to three and include an off licence, a saddlery and a shop seeming to specialise in items you can't find anywhere else.

Looking down the course of the old A27 that was by-passed in 1988. The junction is with West Walberton Lane. The old flint walls to the right mark the site of a former farm.

House Field
The name of the field according to the 1846 tithe map which has been split in half by the construction of the Fontwell By-Pass in 1988. Now the only green space south of the A27 and north of Arundel Road, its old course, which makes you wonder how long it will survive as an open space before another estate is constructed upon it.
