Glasshouses at Toddington
Viewed from the bridleway that links Lyminster to Poling. Much of the coastal plain between the South Downs and the sea has historically been involved in the market garden industry. The line of bushes at the end of the field marks the course of Black Ditch a tributary of the River Arun.

Toddington: Glasshouses and public footpath
Historically there has always been a public right of way between Toddington and Poling, and it used to run diagonally across the site where the glasshouses are now. When the glasshouses were built, some time after the Second World War judging by historic maps, the public right of way had to be maintained and was re-routed between these enormous blocks, creating a novel and interesting walk, the direction of which is indicated by the West Sussex County Council (WSCC) posts. The glasshouses are part of the Zuider Zee Nursery, and the frontage of the one on the left is over 150 metres long. The footpath runs under the service gantry in the distance and then makes a ninety degree turn to the left towards Poling.
