Toddington: Railway line towards Angmering
The railway arrived here in 1846, built by the Brighton & Chichester Railway, which amalgamated with several other railway companies in the same year to form the London Brighton & South Coast Railway. This view was taken from Image Note the 70 mph speed restriction sign. Care was taken to check that no trains were coming up behind the photographer before the image was quickly taken.

Glasshouses at Toddington
Viewed from the bridleway that links Lyminster to Poling. Much of the coastal plain between the South Downs and the sea has historically been involved in the market garden industry. The line of bushes at the end of the field marks the course of Black Ditch a tributary of the River Arun.
