East Beach Cafe, Littlehampton
A close up of the iron roof plates on this iconic cafe in Littlehampton. the plates were shaped and welded then rusted and treated with a protective layer. The whole roof was lifted into place as a single unit.

The East Beach Cafe, Littlehampton
The iconic cafe that has won numerous design awards since it was built in 2007. The cafe was designed by Thomas Heatherwick, based on a driftwood motif. The roof is made of rusted and treated iron plates.

The East Beach Cafe, Littlehampton
When seen across The Green at Littlehampton, the first impression is "what is that" or "it is hideous". Getting close to it like this does not make it clear what it actually is but by going round to the seaward side you can see it is the East Beach Cafe.
