Across Widewater Lagoon
Widewater Lagoon is an area of brackish water between Lancing Beach and the houses along the A259. It was formed when the original Adur Estuary was blocked off by the building up of the shingle beach by longshore drift and storms. It is now a nature reserve, easily viewed from the path/cycleway along the top of the beach. In the distance is the chapel of Lancing College (see Image).

Along Widewater Lagoon
See Image for information on Widewater Lagoon. The houses along the far side of the lagoon are on the A259. As well as the family of mute swans swimming towards the camera, a little egret can be seen on the right hand side of the photo, near the edge of the lagoon (see Image).
