Widewater Lagoon
Man made lagoon formed by the construction of an embankment to carry the Shoreham-Worthing coast road that is now the A259. This is the eastern end of the western lagoon looking towards the causeway that separates the two.

Widewater Lagoon
This view is from the car park at the end of West Beach Road. Although Widewater Lagoon is not directly connected to the sea, seawater is allowed to enter the lagoon to keep the salinity up and create a brackish habitat. Widewater Lagoon
Widewater Lagoon is an area of brackish water between Lancing Beach and the houses along the A259. It was formed when the original Adur Estuary was blocked off by the building up of the shingle beach by longshore drift and storms. It is now a nature reserve, easily viewed from the path/cycleway along the top of the beach. The block in the background is Widerwater Court.

Across Widewater Lagoon
Widewater Lagoon is an area of brackish water between Lancing Beach and the houses along the A259. It was formed when the original Adur Estuary was blocked off by the building up of the shingle beach by longshore drift and storms. It is now a nature reserve, easily viewed from the path/cycleway along the top of the beach. In the distance is the chapel of Lancing College (see Image).
