The Old Lifeboat House
Worthing had a lifeboat station from 1852 until 1930 during which time the lifeboat was launched 36 times and saved 58 lives http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.asp?compid=18228#s9. This was Worthing's third (and last) lifeboat station housing the lifeboat from 1865 to 1930. It is now a private residence and, although considerably altered, still retains the original building's distinctive look: compare with the postcard from 1907 from the West Sussex Past website http://www.westsussexpast.org.uk/pictures/dserve.exe?&dsqIni=Dserve.ini&dsqApp=Archive2&dsqCmd=show.tcl&dsqDb=Catalog&dsqPos=0&dsqSearch=((text)='P002208').
