Clearance of the paper mill site
Progress is very slow on this site, but it is thought that it will end up as housing.

Taken from the end of the lower path where it joins the upper path which comes up from Fine Brows, I am looking across the top of Redisher Wood towards Holcombe Brook, with Bury and Oldham spreading out to the distance beyond.

Dipping Pond Redisher Woods
A corn mill, a cotton mill and
Redisher bleachworks were using
water from Holcombe Brook around
1893 in Redisher Wood. The lodges
and ponds were created for the
Redisher bleach works owned by the
Ainsworth family.
A remnant of the works can be seen in this dipping pond used by schools and provided by Bury Council

Good Friday at the Hare and Hounds
Originally a tradition to walk up Holcombe Hill on Good Friday for egg rolling and a church service.
Although the walk is still done by many people, younger people have interpreted this as meeting at the Hare and Hounds and drink all afternoon.
Previous years have ended in fighting, but this year was well-policed and although very busy everyone seemed well behaved!
