Wellington Mills, Bury.
The chimney is on another mill across Wellington Street and these days is looking very sick with sizable pieces of greenery sprouting from the side. The boy with his football appears completely oblivious to the two guys with cameras on the old railway bed.
There's another mill with chimney in the distance.

Millscape, Bury
The tall multi-storey block in the middle has all gone. The sheds beyond the pond are still there and so is Victoria (or New Victoria) Mills with the red brick tower and chimney.

Bury millscape
A pleasant October day with a view from an old railway line showing some elevation. The closest dark mill with the flagpole on the side of the tower is Wellington Mills, now demolished. The chimney and red brick tower are on New Victoria Mills (name according to Williams and Farnie - Cotton Mills in Greater Manchester). The distant mill on the left is apparently still standing (google satellite image 12/08).

Photographed from the disused railway line. They are mid-19th century cotton mills. The tall windows indicate an internal engine house and this implies gear drive (most probably). This block with the tower has now been demolished.
