Looking towards the corner of Oxford Street and Deansgate, in Bolton. Ahead is the Corliss Engine which was made in Bolton in 1866, and was used in a silk spinning mill in Bentham, Yorkshire until 1969. The stationary steam engine was put in its case by Bolton Corporation in 1973 when the Newport Street and Oxford Street pedestrianised area was opened.
