War memorial of the 5th Battalion The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment
In the north west corner of Queens Park, with Chorley New Road visible behind. The striking thing is the length of the list of names from one battalion who died in the First World War. I am reliably informed that there are 1,012 names, though haven't counted them myself.

Gallipoli Memorial, Queen's Park
This memorial, a six metre high sand stone obelisk situated in the Promenade area of Queen’s Park, was built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the Gallipoli campaign which took place between April 1915 and January 1916. It was dedicated on 26 April, 2015 http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/12913648.New_memorial_to_be_unveiled_in_Queens_Park_to_236_of_the_brave_Bolton_men_who_lost_their_lives_in_Gallipoli/ Bolton News). The obelisk features a brass plaque with the names of the Bolton men who lost their lives during the conflict. It also carries a relief of the painting “Lancashire Landing” by Charles Dixon which depicts the scene of the 1st battalion of Lancashire Fusiliers coming ashore at Gallipoli on the first morning of the campaign. The fusiliers came under very heavy fire resulting in a large number casualties. Six Victoria Crosses were awarded to members of the battalion for acts of valour on that day - the famous “six VCs before breakfast" (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-32416382 BBC).
