Moordown: footpath M03 from Brassey Road
Looking across the carriageway of Brassey Road along an offshoot to even numbers 138a-154a. The driveway (as opposed to the adjacent path, according to large-scale maps) forms the start of public footpath M03 to Limited Road. See Image for a closer view along the route, with links to further photos along the public footpath.

Moordown: footpath M03 and driveway to 138a-154a Brassey Road
This is an offshoot of Brassey Road, on whose main carriageway we are standing, leading to the highest even numbers of the road. It also incorporates the public footpath to Limited Road - the course of the public right of way appears to be the roadway and not the concrete path. See Image for a wider view from behind us, and Image for the next view along the footpath.

Motorists beware: centre of the solar system ahead
At about 8 o'clock on summer evenings, the sun is low in the sky and makes the motorist's job very difficult. This is particularly so of Castle Road, whose gentle gradient is just right for no sun visor to extend low enough to shield the sun from one's eyes. The scenario also produces extremely long shadows: Image

The next picture along this public footpath from Image] - the path goes along this driveway and then through a little gap to the right of the house with the blue door - see Image

Moordown: footpath M03 goes through a little gap
This public footpath has come along a driveway off Brassey Road and now enters the small gap just to the left of the black car. See Image] for the view to here from behind, and Image for a view through the gap from the other side.

Never-ending shadows
The low sun at 8 o'clock on a summer's evening, together with the gentle slope of Castle Road, produces exceptionally long shadows: the shadow of the car on the right extends for 40 or 50 metres down to the junction (and might be even longer but for the change in gradient) – not to mention my very long legs! It is also hazardous to drivers proceeding westwards: Image

Winton: frozen hailstones in Strouden Road
We awoke this morning to pimply surfaces all around – hail had fallen in the night and then frozen. It is much harder to scrape off the windscreen than the standard smooth layer of ice!

Winton: winter sun after snowfall
The sun comes over the houses on the south side of Strouden Road following fairly heavy overnight snow. It might have thawed the snow eventually but more fell midafternoon.
