Verwood: the pub that crossed the road without moving
The Albion Inn, close to the site of the former Verwood station, used to be on the south side of Station Road. However, about 20 years ago the road was rerouted to its present course, with the pub now on the north side. To the right, we can see that the beer garden incorporates the space under the old railway bridge, across which Station Road used to run. See also Image

Verwood: old course of Station Road
Looking along from the old railway bridge, on the north side of the Albion Inn, on the course of Station Road before it was re-routed to the south side of the pub. The old white lines are still evident, probably 20 years after the route was closed. The ends of the brick parapets of the bridge can be seen on the edges of the picture.
