Hamworthy: the Ferryman
A pub by the entrance to the docks, whose name probably refers to the ferry that used to run between here and Poole Quay, just across the water, before the bridge was built – but it could equally refer to the major cross-Channel ferry that runs from here to, among other places, Cherbourg.

Hamworthy: welcome to Poole from abroad
The exit route from the cross-Channel ferry crosses this more or less disused railway line, immediately after which you pass below a gantry sign welcoming you to Poole.
